Education and Outreach
Education Programs
We make learning and history fun. Experienced tour guides provide students with a “back-in-time” adventure. Trained staff will provide a 90-minute tour of the facility. Students are encouraged to:
- Have a seat in our old fashioned school room
- Listen to the steam engine
- Experience the interior of a log cabin
- View the different animal specimens
- Hear interesting stories
We offer hands-on activity with our tours:
- Butter making
- Bead work (for grade 4 and 5)
- Scavenger hunt
- Paper recycling
- Candle making
- Ice cream making (we charge $1 per child to cover expenses)
With our temporary exhibits we offer special education programs that complement the displays, such as Christmas programs or art adventures. New programs are being created on a continual basis to provide a different learning experience every time you visit.
In lieu of charging a fee for educational programming, donations are appreciated. Please contact the museum to arrange your education program.
Summer Scavenger Hunt
It’s even fun to learn when you’re not in school. Visit the museum this summer to participate in our summer scavenger hunt. You’ll learn more about history and have a chance to win a great prize at the end of the summer.
