Brusers Department Store
This building was constructed in 1918 in order to provide more room for an early Humboldt enterprise - Brusers Department Store. The original Brusers building, located on the same site had opened in 1910 and was too small for the expanding business.

Brusers department store included a men's and women's clothing section with a full-time seamstress for alterations, a dry goods and groceries, as well as fabric and sewing notions. At its peak, the store employed 22 people.

The exterior of the building was renovated in 1940 at a cost of $10,000. By 1955, the building had been remodeled to include the double entrance doors. Brusers closed in 1965, after 55 years in business.

The Saan store opened in September 1965 with Eugene Phaneuf as store manager. The Saan store moved out of the building in 1987. The Red Apple Clearance Center operated in this location from 1990 to 2001 and from 2003 to 2007. Fields Department Store opened in this building in 2008.
